St. Elizabeth Nursery and Montessori School began as a one room school in 1970 housing an early childhood Montessori class.
The following year, 1971, the Montessori class moved into a brand new school which also housed a nursery class and a 4 year
old pre-kindergarten preschool class too.
In 1972, Mario Montessori, son of Maria Montessori along with his wife, visited St. Elizabeth Nursery and Montessori School.
Through the years, the school expanded to add a traditional kindergarten, two more full day early childhood Montessori
classes and one half day early childhood Montessori class.
In 2001, a large expansion project began. The new wing of the school added a new library, new elementary classrooms,
science lab, computer lab, multi purpose room, open-air atrium, health room, commercial kitchen, cafeteria and three
new fully equipped fenced playgrounds with a large ball field.
September 2002, saw the beginning of the Montessori Elementary program. Each year a new grade level is added.
The school plans to expand to sixth grade.
With the grace of God the school will care for, and educate children 2 ½ years through kindergarten in both the traditional
development style and in the Montessori style of teaching and for children from first grade through
sixth grade in the Montessori style of teaching.
